Recently Women in Aviation Middle East Chapter held an important board meeting where they discussed on matters pertaining to the activities of the chapter. This time the board meeting was held with compliments, at the exclusive studio of renowned Emirati Artist, Mattar Bin Lahej.

Women in Aviation, Middle East Chapter were highly privileged to be granted exclusive access to the artists studio for their board meeting and are very grateful to Bin Lahejs, generosity and greatly appreciate his hospitality. Members were highly appreciative of the kind gesture of Bin Lahej and after the meeting took the opportunity to view the magnificent work of the artist in his studio. The meeting was highly fruitful and Bin Lahejs wonderful hospitality made the experience all the better.

In This Scene

Mattar Bin Lahej is an established self-taught artist. Born in Dubai in 1968, his passion for art and painting was the driving force which helped foster his talent through training, field work and exploration. As well as being an active artist, Bin Lahej is also a skilled sculptor and photographer, whose works have been globally recognized over the past few years. His works have been featured in premier exhibitions both locally and internationally, such as the Abu Dhabi Art and the Berlin Art Fair, Germany, as well as in Morocco and Kuwait.

Bin Lahej is an accomplished self-taught and self-represented artist, who has garnered the attention of contemporary art collectors in the UAE. He has established his own technique which include an innovative approach to brushwork. At the same time, he has organized and manages several workshops through which he nurtures young talent through his annual kids summer camps More than Art, which are held at his own gallery, Marsam Mattar.

This years event was also the first ever edition of MEBA where Women in Aviation International had taken part as an exhibitor. The Middle East Chapter for Women in Aviation were given a complementary stall at the exhibition with compliments of the organizers. The response at the event was highly enthusiastic and visitors thronged the Chapters stall in droves with inquiries on the opportunities and benefits of joining Women in Aviation International. What was exceptionally encouraging was the interest exhibited by women visiting the exhibition indicating that more and more women were seeking opportunities for excelling in aviation careers. Opportunities which Women in Aviation International sought to provide to all its members.

Footfall at the event broke all preceding years records and close to ten thousand visitors thronged the exhibition this year. INquiriee for membership were noted down and a large number of visitors became committed to the cause and pledged support to the organization. At the close of the event, the WAI-ME team bid farewell to the latest edition of MEBA highly satisfied with the response and traction received during the event.

MEBA(Middle East Business Aviation) is an exclusive Business aviation event held in Dubai and is the largest business aviation exhibition in the region. This years event set new records in almost every respect. There were over 50 aircraft and helicopters parked on display in front of the exhibition hall at Dubai’s new Al Maktoum International Airport (DWC). This years exhibition saw over 400 exhibitors from different walks of business aviation sector showcasing their services and products.

Representatives of Women in Aviation delivered impressive presentations on the focus of the chapter as well as the potential that the Middle East had with regards to empowering women in the aviation sector. Important facts and figures were bought up and emphasis was placed on the history of women’s participation in the aviation sector in the Middle East and how things have changed as well as improved over the years.

The United Arab Emirates contribution to empowerment of women as well as the strides made by the leaders were highly praised and mention was made of the UAE’s achievements in this regards.
The event was highly well received and gave the chapter an opportunity to showcase its objectives to a prominent audience and make it known that Women in Aviation – Middle East chapter was firm in its regard to supporting women in the Middle East in acquiring their dreams of highly successful and fulfilling careers in the aviation sector.

In This Scene

The Global Aviation aerospace summit, an exclusive event which takes place every two years was held at Abu Dhabi. The summit addressed topics of import to the aviation sector as well as investment opportunities in the sector. Over a 1000 senior executives were invited to the event. The event also provided Women in Aviation an opportunity to showcase its mission and objective with regards to womens participation in the industry and what more could be done about it.

The response at the event was overwhelmingly positive. WAI-ME had been provided a complimentary stall with courtesy of the organizing committee. Visitors were enthralled and inquiries poured in for membership as well as upcoming educational opportunities and tie ups that the organization had with its established partners. Numerous visitors signed up to be included on the organizations membership waiting list – indicating the level of enthusiasm that had been generated by the presence of the organization. It was a fact that women were more than ambitious in their aims to acquire highly successful roles in aviation related careers, proving once again that cultural barriers were ready to be redefined.

The event closed on a highly positive note for Women in Aviation, leaving the participants with fond memories as well as optimism for the future.

The Abu Dhabi Air show is an exclusive business aviation event that brings together local and international airlines, manufacturers and other related industries. More than 175 exhibitors showcased their services and products at the event. The event was also the first instance of the Abu Dhabi Air Show where Women in Aviation took part as an active participant. The Middle East Chapter for Women in Aviation is the first outreach chapter of the Multinational organization which aims to support women in the region.

Despite being the first ever event, the response was astoundingly positive and the organization received numerous inquiries on the first day it self – proving that women in the region held the same ambitions to excel as their male counterparts. Most inquiries were with regards to special scholarship programs that the organization offered members as well as the organizations strong footing as an established support hub for women. WAI-ME was also visited by a number of eminent dignitaries who were all praise for the organizations objectives and mission.

The event closed on a highly positive note for Women in Aviation, as well as being the largest installment of the Dubai Airshow – the event was highly fruitful for the chapter making it the first in a line of major events where Women in Aviation would definitely be participating.

The Dubai Airshow is the largest air-show event in the region. This years even attracted more than 1000 exhibitors making it the largest event of its kind. At the same time the Dubai Airshow 2013 also saw the first time participation of the Women in Aviation – Middle East Chapter. The Middle East Chapter is the first chapter of Women in Aviation International for the region. The organization aims to help and support women in acquiring lucrative careers and educational opportunities in the aviation sector.
